Morgan Eva GT onthuld op Pebble Beach concours
Op zondag 15 augustus was het dan zover. Na eerder enkele "teasers" te hebben vrijgegeven, is de Morgan Eva GT officieel onthuld. We mogen met recht spreken over een indrukwekkende auto, die ruimte biedt aan vier volwassenen en hun bagage. De Eva GT is breder en langer dan de Aero SuperSports, waardoor deze ruimte ontstaat.

Morgan en Nimag op Concours d'élégance Paleis het Loo
Op 4 en 5 september 2010 zal BV Nimag de Morgan Aero SuperSports voor de eerste maal in Nederland tonen, en waar kan dat beter dan op Paleis het Loo. New Morgan EvaGT in 2012.
At a time of global conservation with a drive towards improved fuel economy the Morgan Motor Company introduces a new concept for a sporting family, the Morgan EvaGT. The four seater Coupe takes its inspiration from the British sports saloons of the early 1950’s. Among these were the Bristol 400 series and the Frazer Nash BMW 328. After the Second World War rationing forced designers to conserve and make the most of the materials at their disposal. However the pressure cooker of war had also led to an abundance of innovative engineering ideas. Steel was scarce so lightweight aluminium was used for bodywork. Smooth “in-line” straight six cylinder engines were fitted to give long distance comfort and reliability. Because the engineers had often worked on aircraft development during the war aerodynamics contributed to high but economical cruising speeds.
The Morgan Motor Company is the last survivor of these British sports car manufacturers. Of course the company is lucky enough to have 100 years of continuous success behind it and like Bristol and Frazer Nash; Morgan has a history of successful collaborations with German suppliers BMW, Siemens and Bosch. But Morgan also works with a number of young engineering companies in the United Kingdom and with world class British university research departments.
The new challenge is to make cars that are more efficient than any we have seen so far. The Morgan Motor Company is in a good position to respond to this challenge because the company is small and flexible with a proven track record of fast development cycles. It currently manufactures one of the greenest sports cars in the world, the Morgan Four Four Sport. Morgan achieves this result with the use of the new Ford 1.6 Sigma engine coupled with a light chassis. Morgan currently has a young well qualified technical team working towards a potential 5 engineering PHD’s, who will make full use of research departments at the University of Oxford, Cranfield and Birmingham City to tap into a technical knowledge network to make more efficient cars. This team is helping to develop a high torque electric motor twice as powerful as others of the same weight and size and a powerful lithium phosphate battery with a higher charge density to achieve the most efficient performance for weight so far.
The dynamic team at Morgan has made a commitment from 2010 that they will bring out a new model every two years. The legendary sports car manufacturer will target new niches…..electric sports cars, a fun weekend vehicle and the first of the new cars will be the Morgan EvaGT, a four seater Coupe aimed at young families, with a bit of drama or automotive theatre as we like to call it. This is a revolution for a car company famous for making the same car for 50 years!

The Morgan EvaGT makes full use of clever technologies that the Morgan Motor Company has developed to manufacture a lightweight car. Morgan was one of the first car companies to see the advantage of a bonded aluminium chassis to give rigidity but also to save weight. The EvaGT uses a further developed version of the bonded aluminium chassis of the Morgan Aero SuperSports, a chassis that successfully competes in International GT3 Sports Car Racing. Compliant with European and US safety approvals.
Bodywork:
Morgan was the first car company in 1995 to see the benefit of superformed aluminium, an aircraft technology, to manufacture smooth accurate body parts. Morgan Design have sculpted a new shape for the Morgan EvaGT that focuses on natural materials and understands their unique technical properties. Using computer technology in design and in manufacture to ensure accuracy, the parts are then hand finished to make sure they feel as good as they look. A perfect “A” class surface, minimal shut lines, hidden wipers, flush door handles and sharp creases deflect air over the surface of the car. The new Morgan EvaGT represents a philosophy of lightweight luxury that embraces authenticity, sustainability and innovation achieving its final result through the process of skilled craftsmanship.

Launch
The first public view of the Morgan EvaGT will be at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Carmel, California, USA on the 15th August 2010.
The Morgan Motor Company will be taking orders worldwide with a request for a deposit of £5000 from prospective clients for an allocated build slot. The first 100 cars of a limited run are planned to begin production mid 2012 and the “on-road” price will be competitive for a car of this class.

Morgan Sport Series uitgebreid.
Morgan heeft een nieuwe uitvoering geïntroduceerd, en wel één in de Sport serie. Mogen wij u voorstellen aan de Morgan Roadster Sport. De uitbreiding van de Sport serie zorgt voor een nieuwe indeling van het leveringsprogramma van Morgan. We kennen nu de Classic Range, de Aero serie en de Sport lijn. De Classic Range bestaat uit de Morgan Plus 4, met 2 liter motor, en de Roadster met de 3 liter V6 krachtbron. Beide modellen zijn leverbaar als 2 en 4 seater en zijn volledig naar eigen smaak samen te stellen. Als Aero kennen we op dit moment alleen de Aero SuperSports, u weet wel, de targa-versie van de AeroMax. De Sport lijn begint met de in 2008 geïntroduceerde 4/4 Sport en wordt nu dus uitgebreid met de nieuwe Roadster Sport.

Eerste Morgan SuperSport Junior Pedal Cars geleverd.
De eerste twee Morgan SuperSport Junior Pedal Cars zijn gearriveerd in Nederland en uitgeleverd aan de gelukkige eigenaren. Er zullen er nog velen volgen want er is tot nu toe maar liefst 16 stuks besteld! Al deze exemplaren zijn naar specifieke wens samengesteld wat varieert van het standaard Maroon (rood) met zwart pvc bekleding tot Sports Green met Saddle bruin leder. Het is naast speelgoed waarschijnlijk ook een collectors item, wat voor een aantal mensen de reden is geweest er één te bestellen. Het is trouwens nog altijd mogelijk een exemplaar aan te schaffen. Winnaar Morgan Raffle bekend!
Op vrijdag 20 november 2009 was de verloting van de Morgan 4/4 Sport met kenteken Y100MMC ten bate van BBC's Children in Need actie. De opbrengst van deze verloting resulteerde in een gift van maar liefst £50.000,=. Ook vele Nederlanders hadden via BV Nimag een lot gekocht en dus een bijdrage geleverd, waarvoor hartelijke dank! De uiteindelijke winnaar van de Y100MMC is Mr. Powell uit Shoropshire in Engeland met lotnummer 18794.

Morgan onthult nieuw model

Dit jaar viert de Morgan Motor Company haar 100-jarig jubileum als zelfstandige automobielfabrikant. Als onderdeel van de festiviteiten onthulde Morgan in de sfeervolle omgeving van het Italiaanse Villa d’Este tijdens het Concours d'Eleganza op 24 april de nieuwe Morgan Aero SuperSports.
Dit in eigen huis ontwikkelde en ontworpen model is een (vanzelfsprekend!) handgemaakte lichtgewicht aluminium sportauto met zeer luxe uitrusting. Het interieur bestaat uit een comfortabele combinatie van gepolijst hardhout, met de hand gestikt exclusief leder en geavanceerde elektronische technologie. Ondanks de overdaad aan luxe is het totaalgewicht van de auto minimaal, zodat de auto zeer direct stuurt en economisch met brandstof omgaat. De ambachtslieden van Morgan bereiken dit door de assemblage van iedere auto met de hand te volbrengen en door toepassing van luchtvaarttechnologie bij de vervaardiging van de aluminium delen.
Het lichtgewicht aluminium chassis is gelijk aan dat van de Morgan Aero8 GT3, die momenteel zeer succesvol presteert in het International FIA GT3 Championship. De auto is verder uitgerust met de bekende aluminium 4.8 liter V8 motor van BMW, welke naar wens gecombineerd kan worden met een 6-traps automaat of handgeschakelde versnellingsbak. Rijden met de SuperSports wordt daarmee een ongeëvenaarde ervaring. De auto heeft bovendien 2 uitneembare aluminium dakdelen (welke gemakkelijk opgeborgen kunnen worden in de kofferruimte) en is zo geconstrueerd dat rijden zonder deze dakdelen niet gepaard gaat met hinderlijke windoverlast.
De nieuwe Aero SuperSports gaat medio 2010 in productie en zal in een gelimiteerde oplage van (naar verwachting) 175 stuks worden gebouwd. De Nederlandse consumentenprijs zal naar schatting starten bij € 219.000,= incl. btw en bpm. De Aero SuperSports is te bestellen, dus geinteresseerden kunnen contact met ons opnemen voor meer informatie. Helaas zijn er geen brochures beschikbaar.

Nimag gebruikt als eerste dealer de Y100MMC
Morgan heeft ter ere van het 100-jarig bestaan deze parelmoer witte Morgan 4/4 Sport gebouwd en voorzien van het kenteken Y100MMC wat natuurlijk slaat op "100 Years of Morgan Motor Company". Deze auto zal tijdens het Centenary jaar door Engeland en Europa reizen langs allerlei evenementen. Het eerste dealer evenement waar de Y100 te zien was, was de nieuwjaarsreceptie van BV Nimag. Het unieke aan deze auto is dat hij in november wordt verloot ten behoeve van het goede doel Children in Need. Lootjes zijn het gehele jaar in Vianen te koop voor € 7,= per stuk.

Winnaar Morgan Roadster Raffle bekend!
Op zaterdag 8 december jl. heeft de verloting plaatsgevonden van de nieuwe Morgan Roadster, tijdens de Morgan Christmas Party in Malvern Link. De trekking werd verricht door Charles Morgan en de verloting was georganiseerd tbv Thom Donaldson, een werknemer van de Morgan Motor Company, die door een verkeersongeluk verlamd is geraakt. In totaal is er al 75.000 pond ingezameld om Thom's leven dragelijk te maken.
Ondanks dat BV Nimag in samenwerking met de Morgan Sports Car Club Holland ruim 500 loten heeft verkocht, bleek de gelukkige winnaar geen Nederlander. Dhr. Jones uit Birmingham wordt de trotse eigenaar van een hagelnieuwe Morgan Roadster. BV Nimag werd nog wel geroemd en bedankt voor de inspanningen om er een succes van te maken. In totaal zijn er bijna 10.000 loten verkocht!

B.V. Nimag en Van der Kooi Sportscars B.V. maakten begin dit jaar bekend een intentieverklaring te hebben ondertekend. Het voornemen was daarbij hun sportwagenactiviteiten onder te brengen in een nieuwe gezamenlijke onderneming, welke volledig onderdeel zou worden van de Louwman Groep.
Betrokken partijen maken langs deze weg bekend dat de voorgenomen fusie in goed onderling overleg geen doorgang zal vinden.
Beide bedrijven zullen derhalve in ongewijzigde vorm voortbestaan. B.V. Nimag blijft daarbij de merken Morgan en TVR vertegenwoordigen vanuit haar vestiging in Vianen.

ECSTATIC Richard Hammond got back behind the wheel of a car yesterday for the first time since his horror crash and said: "I will remember this day for the rest of my life".
He took his wife Mindy for a spin in his Morgan sports car after being given the go-ahead by doctors to drive again.
It was less than two months since the Mirror columnist and Top Gear presenter suffered a serious brain injury in the 288mph jet car smash as he filmed a stunt for the show.
After yesterday's drive Richard said: "Now I feel more like me. As I got into the driving seat it felt like I was back where I belonged."
"It was wonderful to be away from everything, being able to tootle around the lanes in the foothills of the Malverns in Gloucestershire on a sunny Sunday afternoon."
Richard, 36, nicknamed the Hamster by Top Gear sidekicks Jeremy Clarkson and James May, added: "During the last two months there have a number of moments I will never forget and this is one of them.
"I have really missed driving and the freedom that comes with it. I didn't realise how much until today. Mindy was a bit damp-eyed. She has been my driver for the last few weeks and I have been dependent on her. Now I'm looking forward to taking her out for a drive and a nice lunch this week."
Richard had to pass two hours of complicated mental reasoning, memory and problem-solving tests before he won back his driving licence.
He said: "It felt like passing my test again. Mindy was delighted."
"Of course, it means I can get back to work but it means so much personally as well."
For his first trip back behind the wheel, Richard chose his Morgan ahead the other motors in his garage, which include a Porsche, a vintage Mustang and a Range Rover.
In contrast to his last high-speed outing, Richard didn't go over 50mph yesterday and said he felt as confident as ever.
"I didn't have any fears or nagging doubts about driving again," he added. I have been a passenger in a car many times since the accident and I haven't suffered any flashbacks or anything traumatic. The crash didn't affect my confidence on the road.
"The specialists have advised me to ease back into it and to just drive locally at first. I'm not going to leap in the car and drive to John O'Groats just yet.
"I was never worried that I wouldn't get back my driving licence. It was just a case of when. Having just stepped out of the car I am aware of how staggeringly lucky I have been. I could have died.
"I am very lucky that there were no complications, everything works and that I am feeling better every day."
Even simple journeys, like collecting his daughters Izzy, six, from school and three-year-old Willow from nursery will give him a sense of achievement.
Richard is bracing himself for the inevitable ribbing from Top Gear colleagues Clarkson and May. He joked: "I am expecting to receive a set of L-plates in the post any day."
He is looking forward to returning to Top Gear for a new series in January but admitted it was unlikely viewers would see him up to his usual high-speed antics straight away. He said: "I think it will be while yet before I am back on the test track.
"I feel ready to do that but the doctors say I must take my time and I am doing what they say."
